5 Tips for Keeping Your Home Clean—Everyday!

Scrubbing! Ugh! who likes to scrubbing when you’re housecleaning? Answer: no one! It’s both physically tiring and it’s quite time consuming! Still, things like showers, and greasy stovetops often require scrubbing, if not cleaned well and consistently.

In this article, I’m going to let you in on a secret—well, actually five secrets—to having a really clean home, with zero scrubbing! And I’ll do this in under five minutes.

Number one: Begin with a thorough, reset cleaning in your home.

•I know this may require initial scrubbing, to get your home to up to a clean standard, but, it’s necessary!

  • This is how professional cleaners start all new clients, btw, and, this is also how they are able to keep those homes sparkling clean!

  • Now, if you have a large, or heavily soiled home, this may be a bit daunting, and understandably so! If you feel too overwhelmed to do it on your own, then you may want to invest in professional cleaners to do this for you.

  • Just keep in mind, this first clean will be quite time and energy consuming—and therefore, it’s likely be a tad costly, but well worth it! The important thing is that once this is done, it makes the next four — easy!

Number two: Wipe down all countertops and sinks in your bathrooms and your kitchen daily-yes-daily!

  • It’s worth a few minutes per day to do this, and while it seems like that’s investing a lot of time, you actually will save yourself time and effort in the long run!

  • so make sure you wipe down your kitchen and your bathroom surfaces — daily!

Number three: Get a squeegee for every shower and tub in your home, and, use it to squeegee off all standing water on the walls, the glass doors, and even the basin of the tub or shower—daily!

  • This one is so easy and it may be the one that will save you from scrubbing!

  • This is a crucial habit to get into, bc, ironically what makes our bodies clean-soap & water-is exactly what makes showers and tubs filthy!

  • A squeegee not only removes water that can leave mineral staining & discoloration, but it also eliminates most of the soap residue, and just sends it down the drain! Btw it’s only about 30 seconds needed to do this every shower!

Number four: Wash all dishes, and do a quick wipe down of your kitchen stove-top—daily, (more frequently if needed).

  • This is a must for living a scrub free life, because rotting food and standing water makes for one nasty situation in the kitchen sink—and fast!

  • Grease on a stove top—is another place that, if neglected, even a few times, will require a lot of elbow grease to remove!

Number five is-you guessed it-more cleaning! But, this isn’t more *daily* cleaning.

Number 5 is a whole home quick & efficient, “spray, wait, then wipe,” clean.

  • I recommend whole home cleaning be done weekly, or at least- biweekly. Frequency will depend on three factors:

1.how many people in home

2. if you have pets, and

3.how tidy you are in between these maintenance cleans!

  • This maintenance clean should include all of the following:

•Horizontal surfaces, all sinks, the mirrors, and glass;

•The bathroom fixtures, inside and out;

•The exteriors of all large appliances in your kitchen and of course, the floors!
